Uhhhh, Ooops…

I work for a reseller of products. One of our distributors is Ingram Micro. Due to security at Ingram Micro, every sales person needs his/her own login. There is no universal login for their website.

So, a fellow employee recently reformatted their computer and required the login and password for the Ingram Micro account. They then telephoned Ingram Micro support to get said information.

Here’s how the conversation went:

Guy: Hi, my name is L*** and I work for M***. I need to get my login ID and password for the reseller’s area on your website.
IM: OK, hold on while I verify your information. Ok, let me reset your password for you.
Long Pause
IM: Uhhh, ooops. I’m… uh… I’m going to have to check on something.

Apparently she accidentally deleted all 85+ records of our sales force. Good times. The guy is now on the phone with her supervisor trying to find out why this happened and what we should do from here.

UPDATE!!!

Apparently there’s no way on their end to get the accounts back – yay for not backing important data up! – so everyone is supposed to send their email address, name, and login they had to the lady that screwed everything up.
